Eric Burke
Eric Burke is the charismatic and enigmatic lead guitarist of Drowning
Eve. He has been pushing musical limits for more than a decade. Eric
has spent the last several years as the sole guitarist of the noe defunct
Qwik Lizard. The trio had played nearly every small club and bar that
welcomes original music as well as a selection of cover songs from
Philadelphia to New York City. Included amongst the hundreds of
shows that the band has performed was an opening slot for the
legendary classic rock outfit, Allman Brothers. In trying to sum up his
musical philosophies and goals, Eric said; “Musicians who set trends,
rather than follow them, will be the ones who are around for the long
haul. That’s what I want, to set trends as well as take different styles of
music and interpret them with my own unique vision, make them my
own.” Eric’s skill as a musician won him the opportunity to meet one of
his biggest influences, Eddie VanHalen. The young guitarist took first
place in a local radio station contest that was searching for “The best
guitarist in Philly”, for winning the top spot Eric was brought to NYC for
a taping of the Late Show with David Letterman, where Van Halen was
to perform. After the show, Eric was brought backstage to meet the
band. The guitarist won third place in WSOU's Zakk Wylde guitar solo
contest.
